Prepare an activity involving a geometric manipulative designed to teach a geometric concept
There is a total of two assignments with the name document 1 and document 2. Each document should be in a saperete word document. the second document is a question and answer assingment which means it is not an essay like the first document.
DOCUMENT 1
Prepare an activity involving a geometric manipulative designed to teach a geometric concept to an elementary school student. You can create your own activity or modify an existing activity; if you are modifying an existing activity, however, ensure your sources are properly cited.
Create a handout including the following information:
- Detailed description of your activity, which must include the application of the characteristics and properties of the chosen geometric shape
- Instructions for conducting the activity
- Materials needed
- State standards addressed by your activity
- Assessment strategies for your activity
DOCUMENT 2
Each answer should be a minimum of 100 words
1. Think about the various polygons (triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, decagons to name a few). What kinds of activities would you implement in your classroom to engage students and help them easily identify each polygon?
2. Examine your daily life, and look for examples of the following types of triangles:
- Right
- Acute
- Obtuse
- Scalene
- Isosceles
- Equilateral
For example, yield signs are examples of acute triangles. Reply to this post with your daily examples and answer the following question. How might this exercise and information be used to assist students as they try to relate the importance of geometry to their own daily lives?
3. When teaching geometry, we often use geoboards to help students gain a better understanding of various geometric concepts. What might the benefits be for students when using geoboards? Are there other manipulatives that would help students with the various geometric concepts? Be specific.
4.Research the flag for the state in which you live(CALIFORNIA). Determine the number of lines of symmetry in the flag and describe the lines of symmetry you discover. Discuss how you might you teach symmetry in an elementary school setting?
5. what is geometry?
6. how would you teach a child geometry?
7. how to explain angles to a child?
8. What is an altitude of a triangle?
