SPSS data analysis
- Using SPSS, we would like to determine whether full-time and part-time students differ in their attitudes toward using a bus if it were available (usebus) and the comfort of a van (vancomf).
- Use the SPSS dataset “commuter” (located on Brightspace) to answer the following (be sure to include a printout of the results plus your verbal interpretation for each question):
1. What proportion of respondents are male and what proportion are female? What is the frequency count of each?
2. What is the mean response of “taking a van or bus is too much hassle?” What does this mean verbally?
3. Do a cross-tab analysis on the following variables:
– marital status
– how they finance their education
What conclusions can you make from this cross-tab? Is there a relationship? Explain.
Conduct a chi-square analysis on this cross-tab. First, calculate this question by hand first (using the frequency counts determined via SPSS). Then run the test using the chi-square option in SPSS. Interpret your results. Be sure to include all your work.
