Multiple regression is when several predictor variables are used to get more precise predictions (Gravetter & Wallnau, 2013). Multiple regressions have two or more predictor variables (Gravetter & Wallnau, 2013).
The example multiple regression I propose is to determine the influence of spirituality and mental health on marital satisfaction. The dependent variable (variable being predicted) in the study is marital satisfaction. There are two predictor variables and those are spirituality and mental health. The alternative hypothesis is that at least one of the independent variables is useful in predicting traffic violations. The null hypothesis is that there will be no significant prediction of marital satisfaction by spirituality or mental health. Multiple regression would predict the influence of spirituality and mental health on marital satisfaction. Multiple regression does not indicate the relationship the independent variables have on the dependent variables. As we have learned previously, correlation does not mean causation, and multiple regressions do not show causation.
